Italy, with its beautiful scenery, buildings, and people, is a very picturesque country. An especially scenic area, called the Cinque Terre, is located on the rocky coast of the Mediterranean. Made up of five fishing villages connected to each other by rugged foot paths and a railroad, it is one of the most charming spots I have ever seen. It appears to be frozen in time.
Tuscany is at the heart of Italy. It is a region rich in foods and wines and is well known for its beautiful landscapes.
While enjoying a visit to Siena, a Tuscan walled city, I was transported back to the Middle Ages. It is best to explore this sleepy medieval town during twilight, after the day tourists have left.
Chianti offers unique landscape: green hills covered with wide fields of vineyards and olive groves dotted by countryside homes made of stone.
